Enviroment design is an important part of game design that i was looking forward to learning about and when we started the lesson we had to choose between designing an airplane interior, Hobbit inspired dome or a spaceship corridor. I chose to model a spaceship corridor because i found it to be the most intersting and it was also similar to the enviroment i have been working on for my game design assignment.
I started by creating a rectangle shape with the Polygons tool tab and then i added edge loops to it with the edge loop tool in the mesh tools tab at the top of the image.
With the edge loops creating the two sides of the corridor i then switched to face mode and selected the faces and used the Extrude tool under the edit mesh tab to pull them out to create the walls. To get the walls either side to have the same shape i used the "Polyu extrude face history" tab on the right side of the image to input exact dimensions.
I then extruded the faces on the top of the model to join them up to finish the shell of the corridor, i swithed from face mode into vertex mode swo that i can selct the vertexs of the model and i then used the "merge vertices" tool in the polygons tab to merge the model together at the top. you can start to see how the corridor will now be made.
I switched to object mode and used the corridor shape i just finished and scaled with the scale tool in on the left to stretch it to be a longer corridor and i then copied and pasted it and scaled it back to about the original thickness. I then scaled it to fit inside the corridor and only show on the sides like a support beam or a pipe, switching to edge mode selecting the edges of the object i wanted to change and using the bevel tool in the polygon tab at the top to make the object smoother and curved.

After finishing the main corridor model i then made small models of pipes and vents to add to the corridor and saved different versions of the corridor with and without pipes and vents.
