Our second lesson on Maya animation we were making an animation of a ball bouncing and interaction with obstacles in a 2d view, this meant that we were learning how to manage two axis of movement instead of one. I decided to add some dominoes towards the end of my animation to add a little challenge to the animation, overall I’m not too happy with the animation because I feel like I could have done much better.
My first problem with it is that it does not look weighted enough meaning it does not seem real, the second problem is the way the ball moves, it doesn’t follow a believable path because it was difficult to imagine the direction the ball would take after bouncing off of obstacles.
I briefly learnt about tools that could help me fix the problems i had with my animation, unfortunately i did not have the time to fix these problems in the lesson but the tools include:
-Ghosting - shows previous frames of animation whilst editing in maya
-Motion Trail - shows animation path as well as keyframe position and their relative frame number
